Congratulations on making it to the final lesson. You've covered a lot of ground in this course, and in this final lesson we'll bring everything together, recapping the full journey from optimization to deployment to benchmarking and pointing you in the next steps so that you can keep building. So, let's recap what we just did. First, we optimized by compressing a model with LLM Compressor. Secondly, we deployed, serving it efficiently with vLLM. And third, we benchmarked, performing load testing and running evaluations to make sure everything meets our requirements. When you combine these techniques, this is where the gains really compound. So a naive deployment, remember is going to be your baseline. But once you add continuous batching and PagedAttention with vLLM, the cost decreases dramatically. And once you add model optimization on top, then you push even further. And this combination is far more powerful than any single technique alone. We come back to this tradeoff triangle. Performance, accuracy, and cost, because every deployment has to balance these three. But the point of this course is that with the right tooling and techniques You can push the boundaries of what's achievable. You don't have to sacrifice accuracy for speed or speed for cost, because the right optimizations lets you have more of all three. So, let me give you a real-world example. A database company needed to deploy Llama 70B for SQL generation to their customers. And they had eight GPUs available. Now, they struggled to quantize the model because accuracy was poor and the open-source tools weren't reliable. But by applying W4A16 quantization with LLM Compressor, they recovered accuracy to over 99% of the baseline. That ended up reducing their GPU requirements from eight down to two, which is a 75% infrastructure reduction. Another case study is a retail company running fine-tuned Llama-70B for JSON extraction across millions of records daily. They initially saw no benefit from quantization because they were using the wrong method for their workload. And by selecting the right optimization, not just weight-only quantization, but also tuning hyperparameters like batch size and concurrency, they achieved a 40% reduction in GPU hours needed. So, the takeaway here is that you start with easy wins like model quantization, then tune for your specific workload and hardware. So, what quantization schemes are typically applied in production? Well, the INT W4A16 works on most accelerators by reducing memory usage and memory bandwidth. And in some cases gives you a 3.7 times compression and up to a three times speed up for latency sensitive workloads. On the other hand, floating point W8A8 requires newer accelerators like Hopper, but it reduces memory, bandwidth, and compute. giving you two times compression and three times speed up for general server workloads. So, choose based on your hardware and workload profile. The AI landscape is scattered. You've got dozens of model families, multiple hardware vendors, different deployment targets, and what vLLM does is provide the single platform to run your models across all of it. Whether you're on NVIDIA GPUs, AMD Instinct, Intel Gaudi, Google TPUs, or any cloud environment, vLLM gives you a consistent and optimized serving layer. And that standardization matters enormously as the ecosystem continues to fragment. Choosing the right model and hardware creates an enormous number of possible configurations. Defining these key performance and quality thresholds narrows that down to what's actually usable. So, service level objectives or SLOs are what ensure your application stays fast, usable and trustworthy for end users. Make sure to benchmark, set targets so that you can deploy with confidence.
